A Brief Look at My Background and Projects
Ready for a music break
Jazz rhythm and other music elements helped me study elite communicators and create a presentation around that.
I provide success tools, presentations and consulting that help people open the next chapter of their lives. I have worked in the mental health field for many years in fascinating roles, from providing psychotherapy to serving as program director. My clients have included police, military, executives, and the public. I have provided presentations and consultation for businesses, academic institutions, and government agencies. I am a licensed marriage family therapist (California) and earned my masters degree in counseling psychology from Norwich University.
A Little About My Approach
One of my aims is to address gap in what is available to the public pertaining to success and mental health. A big part of this is to promote highly focused “tools” (techniques and media, mainly) that provide key skills. My intention is that they be free or affordable and very foundational (taking care of weak links in such a way as to make a big difference).
One of they ways I like to help impart skills, is through guided experiences. Mindfulness is an important skill that I help you explore here (no cost) in this four-minute guided meditation, which offers the experience of a key mindfulness skill: Pure Noticing: Key to Mindfulness.
I also realize that our media are flooded with misguided and poorly executed attempts at providing guidance and techniques. I hope to help people recognize what is missing or wrong-headed and locate better-quality.
This Helped Make Me Passionate about My Approach
There is a great deal that went into my approach, particularly my love of sharing practical mental tools. For example, I had a career-changing experience when I was in a clinical supervision role with a major mental health service provider.
I was responsible for making sure our clients got the best possible therapy. I discovered that the best therapists all used a tool that dramatically improved outcomes for many people. I also used that tool and networked a great deal with therapists to learn more about it. I learned how helpful it was for my clients to use this kind of tool in between their sessions on their own, and I kept developing this self-help approach.
Now I offer those tools in various forms and in presentations. There will again be more free information and guided experiences on this site as once it’s makeover is done. I post updates on my Facebook page.
Music Secrets for Communicators
I was sidelined for a long time, recovering from a brain injury. During that time, I intensely studied the greatest speakers and comedians, and I became better than ever at communicating and making presentations. I drew on my experience as a jazz musician to uncover elements of music that these famous speakers used to make their messages more compelling.
This led me to create presentations such as Project Your Passion: Use the Compelling Music Secrets of Super-Communicators.
